In this episode of Reality Sisters we cover The Bachelor Season 19, The Finale and After the Final Rose Episode.
Just remember, our commentary on the podcast and in the posts are only our personal opinions provided for your entertainment purposes. Sadly, we have no insider information of any kind. We’d love for you to share your opinions too!
[SPOILER ALERT] If you haven’t seen the season finale, watch it now before reading further and/or listening to this episode.
Here’s a brief teaser recap of what we talked about:
Melly’s one word for the episode is “letdown.” Lourdes’ one word for the episode is “disappointed.”
We both felt like Chris Soules settled for the “sure thing” instead of for the one he loved. If that was the case, what a huge injustice to Whitney to be with a man who wasn’t sure, until even the very last second, to whom he would be proposing. If saying goodbye to Becca gave him the clarity that he needed to make a decision, we think he still needed more than 5 minutes of clear thinking before making a life-altering decision.
Of course, this is a television show and a game of sorts. Nevertheless, it is completely unrealistic for a mature person to make such an important decision – that of picking a life-mate – after just a few dates recorded on camera. Becca was thinking with a level-head as well as with her heart. Why Chris couldn’t see that we don’t know. Of course, Becca was not really able to express herself very well either.
Bottom line, we think that Chris’ sisters may have swayed his decision away from his true feelings when one of his sisters said: “you are looking for a wife, not a girlfriend.” While we certainly agree, this statement left out something very important. Chris needed to be looking for the right woman to be his wife, for life. And not just “a wife” but “the right wife,” even if doing so took him a little more time. Was Becca “The One” – the right one for him? I guess we’ll never know unless he decides to pursue it outside of the show. But we hope that Chris, Whitney and Becca will take the opportunity to really think long and hard about what they are going to do now that the show is over.
We believe that Chris should not have proposed to either woman without taking the time to really search his heart, away from the influence of the cameras and America’s expectations.
This is just our opinion based on a highly-edited television show. Certainly, we may be very wrong. But just in case we are not and because we do care for Whitney, Chris and Becca, we have crafted an open letter to all three. See below:
Our Open Letter to Whitney Bischoff
Whitney, girl, before you make the final commitment, make sure this man loves you like you deserve to be loved. You want a man who loves YOU above every other woman and not one who might still be thinking “what if.” You are an amazing woman, Whitney. We know you want to be married and start a family but is it really wise to jump into marriage with a man who clearly had strong feelings for another woman even just moments before proposing to you? Please take the time you need to be certain of your feelings … and his.
Our Open Letter to Chris Soules
Chris, your sisters meant well, but you really need to think again. This is a serious, life-long commitment. Yes, women as wonderful as Whitney are few and far between. Yes, she adores you. But is that enough? Only you know what is in your heart and if you can truly spend the rest of your life without doubts. Doesn’t Whitney deserve better? Is Becca “The One?” Don’t you owe it to yourself to be very sure? All three of you are awesome people who deserve true love. Please take the time to give serious thought to your feelings, talk with your father and your mother who have spent a lifetime loving one another…they know you well and can provide guidance to you as you assess what your heart really wants.
Our Open Letter to Becca Tilley
Becca, we feel that you were somehow unable to express your real thoughts and emotions when Chris asked you. Here’s your shot. They’re not married yet. If you have any regrets and still have strong feelings for him, tell him how you feel. Take a chance. If only you would have told him that you would give your relationship every opportunity to blossom… If only you would have told him that you would have worked hard at seeing if this was meant to be… you and Chris might be together today. But it seems like we might never know. Are you really willing to walk away from the man that might have been the love of your life, Becca? It’s ok to be stoic but let your guard for just a bit…you and Chris might still have a chance at happiness.
After the Final Rose
Whitney was very nervous and looked a bit out of sorts. Whitney and Chris are apparently not yet making plans for their wedding. If Chris was so anxious to start married life and a family, why is he going even farther away from Whitney and doing Dancing with the Stars?
Becca and Chris hugged a little bit too long for people that don’t have feelings for one another.
Both Melly and Lourdes had a sad unfulfilled feeling at the end of the show. In fact, both Melly and Lourdes lost sleep that night. Clearly, we have no life since we worry about people that we don’t even know! Ha! But we felt truly concerned for Whitney, Becca and Chris.
Chris Harrison announced that the upcoming Bachelorette will be both Britt and Kaitlyn. But we don’t understand. Are they going to be Bachelorettes for the entire season or for just the first evening? We’re confused and not particularly excited about the double Bachelorette concept. Of course, we were hoping for Carly to be the next Bachelorette. But given the choice between Britt and Kaitlyn, we both prefer Kaitlyn. Britt, however, looked great last night. Her hair and makeup looked really good. The studio audience seemed to prefer Kaitlyn like we did. However, we’re sure the addition of Britt will add drama to the season and that will make for “good TV.”
We have great news about our beloved Onion Girl, Ashley S, is going to be on the upcoming Bachelor in Paradise this summer! We can’t wait to see more of her soon on Bachelor in Paradise. Go, Onion Girl, go!
Plus! The next Season of The Bachelorette will apparently be coming up soon too!
Meanwhile, keep listening in as we go through Season 30 of Survivor “World’s Apart!” It’s already heating up!
